Sources and refining of high-purity iridium

I. There are many sources of iridium: recycling of iridium catalysts, recycling of radioactive medical device components, recycling of aerospace components, and high-precision instruments, containing iridium minerals;

II. Purification of iridium:

(1) Acid leaching: Soak the iridium-containing raw materials in hydrochloric acid to dissolve the iridium and remove other impurity metals.

(2) Separation: Separate iridium using precipitation.Sources and refining of high-purity iridium

(3) Reduction: Iridium compounds need to be reduced to metallic iridium. Use hydrogen reduction. By heating the iridium salt reducing agent to react, metallic iridium can be obtained.

(4) Purification: Further purify iridium through electrolysis to remove the final impurities and obtain high-purity iridium metal.
